#PRINEAMT ITINERARY NO.1: "PÂNGĂRAȚI - BICAZULUI GORGES - RED LAKE"

PREAMBLE: All itineraries by car through Neamț county promoted in our application start from the heart of the city (The Royal Court). Regardless of whether they are drawn circularly or linearly, they return to Piatra-Neamț, the details of distances and time being presented below. Some of the attractions are visitable, while others that are on the route can simply be admired either from the distance or by making short detours from the main route. Feel free to decide! But it's good to know that all tourist attractions tell their own story, which is also the reason why we included in the itinerary places more or less known to the general public.

DIRECTIONS AND ORIENTATION: This tourist route will first take you to the shores of Pângărați Lake, another place where you can admire the famous swans and many other birds. Immediately after, you will turn right and exit the DN15, heading towards the Pângărați Monastery, another place with a rich and interesting history. When returning to the national road that connects Piatra-Neamț to Bicaz, you will pass right by the "Dimitrie Leonida" Hydropower Plant, one of the most beautiful dams in our entire county. You will be equally impressed by the water castle, this one with its own story. You will then arrive at the "Iulia Hălăucescu" Art Museum in Tarcău, housed in a building that impresses with its massiveness and architecture. The next point on the map is the small town of Bicaz, but extremely busy in high season with tourists from all over the country. If you wish, you can make a short stop to admire the former royal house, today the headquarters of the city hall. The last and most important stops on the route are first in Bicazului Gorges, then at the Red Lake. Give yourself as much time and rest here as possible to enjoy the fabulous scenery.

DISTANCE AND TIME: 70 km (linear route, so 140 km round trip on the same route) / 1 h and 30min actual drive (one way), about 7-8 h with visits, breaks and possibly lunch.

EXTENSION: If you want a truly memorable experience, try the "Astragalus" via ferrata route from Șugăului Gorges. The climbing routes are for all age groups and of varying degrees of difficulty. Find more details on the introduction page in the application.

FOOD & DRINK: The locations on the route where you can eat and drink and that we can recommend are: Păstrăvăria Cheița near Bicaz, the restaurant of the Lacul Roșu Hotel or any terrace and restaurant in the area of souvenir shops near the lake. You can find them on Google Maps along with many other restaurants in the vicinity of the city. Instead, those in Piatra-Neamț are also listed in the EAT & DRINK section of the application.
