Ca să facem ceva bun pentru munţii României şi din dorinţa de a educa populaţia privind mediul înconjurător, de a promova zonele montane şi de a reînvia spiritul montan de altădată, ne-am hotărât să înfiinţăm o asociaţie, prin intermediul căreia să ne putem desfăşura activitatea. Astfel, în mai 2008 a luat fiinţă ASOCIAŢIA MONTANĂ CARPAŢI.
