The "Baal Shem Tov" wooden synagogue from Piatra Neamţ is a testimony of numerous Jewish communities that have existed since the Middle Ages.  The current building was built on the oldest place, based on the letter of July 19, 1766, signed by the voivode Grigore III Ghica.  The old synagogue was by stone, but since the early 18th century it was only allowed to raise wooden synagogues.  In the eastern wall of the synagogue is a "One Holy," a true work of art made of wood carved in 1835 by Sharaga Iţchok ben Moische, disposed in three floors, each of them standing on rounded columns covered with bronze and silver.  The altar, blown with gold, is 250 years old. The synagogue is linked to the name of Baal Shem Tov, the founder of Hasidism. At Văleni is one of the oldest and durable wooden churches from Moldova, built in the middle of dense forest, during the reign of Petru Rares, in the year 1538. It was rebuilt by Lăpuşneanu and then by Ieremia Movilă. When you step into it, is like stepping into a museum that presents an exceptional pictorial treasure. Here was a school – iconographic painting workshop. Over 100 icons coming from here, values of national heritage, are in Agapia, Văratec, Neamţ and Bistriţa monasteries museums, knowing more than 150 icons whose origin refers to Văleni, not counting those scattered in private collections. Here are a few reasons why the oldest wooden church in Neamţ County, now a parish church, is worth a visit.
